Noir is the colour of my best crime book
Its words are worthy of a look
The bloodiest plot and the grittiest hook
I love the shelf you’ll find my book.

I love my book and well it knows
I love the crime whereon it grows
I wish the day it soon would come
When it and I could be as one.

I go the Clyde and I mourn and weep
For satisfied I never can be
I write a chapter, just a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times.
